NEDC is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and administered by The Butterfly Foundation (Butterfly). Butterfly is Australia’s largest not for profit organisation dedicated to supporting people with eating disorders and negative body image and the people who care for them.

NEDC has a small and vibrant team, with offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

The purpose of the role of Communications Coordinator is to drive and coordinate NEDC’s communications activities. This involves website design and content, document design, social media, and member and stakeholder management strategy. The role requires the person to ensure that evidence-based information is presented in ways that are accessible and appealing to people with lived experience, clinicians, researchers and the general public in a variety of contexts.

The Communications Coordinator works closely with the NEDC project team to deliver projects on time within budget and within scope and to promote NEDC’s and the broader sector’s work. This position reports to the National Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities Include:

Strategic communications and organisation

• Contribute to the development of NEDC’s annual communications strategy and oversee its execution

• Work collaboratively with NEDC project leads to develop project communications plan that are appropriate to the project and target audience, including campaigns

• Measure and analyse communication activity performance to drive future work (e.g., google analytics, social media engagement)

• Contribute to improving the accessibility of NEDC’s communications for diverse audiences

• In collaboration with other team members, contribute to continuous improvement of all NEDC tools and resources, including web content, social media, presentations, learning platforms and printed resources.

• Ensure consistency and quality across NEDC visual content

Digital communications

• Support the growth of NEDC’s social media presence by developing and executing a social media calendar as aligned with NEDC’s annual communications strategy

• Manage NEDC’s website including the coordination of content updates and design elements and working with NEDC’s external IT provider to ensure functionality of the website

Resource development

• Maintain NEDC’s existing resources, including coordinating content and design updates

• Proactively identify opportunities for other resources that meet a specific clinical or community need, such as resources for specific populations or emerging issues in clinical practice. This includes factsheets, infographics, videos, website content.

• Design new resources using appropriate design platform (e.g. InDesign, Canva), ensuring that resources are visual engaging, easy to follow and consistent with NEDC brand elements.

• Maintain NEDC’s eLearning courses, including all administration processes associated with the Learning Management System, regular reviews and updates of content as required and any external requirements regarding third party accreditation.

Stakeholder engagement

• Contribute to the development of a stakeholder strategy, including direct communication strategy with NEDC’s 11,000+ members

• Support team members in the development of PowerPoint presentations, as aligned with NEDC’s brand guidelines

About You

Essential

• Qualification in a marketing, communication, or related discipline

• Minimum of two years’ experience in social media and marketing roles

• Demonstrated skills and interest in visual communication, design and use of graphic elements to enhance understanding of a topic or process.

• Proficiency in graphic design with experiencing using Adobe Suite and Canva

• Capacity to make clinical or technical information clear and easy to follow.

• Comprehensive understanding of various social media platforms

• Must hold a Working with Children Check for the relevant state/territory and a National Police Check.
