– Collects specimen or patient’s samples for examination.

– Process and examines specimens for laboratory examination.

– Performs phlebotomy.

– Attends to the reception of laboratory patients.

– Check identification documents presented by the patient.

– Gives proper instructions to laboratory patients regarding laboratory processing.

– Receives specimen from patients and label them correspondingly.

– Attends to the issuance of laboratory results; endorse to respective wards/OPD/ER.

– Operates and maintains laboratory equipment’s and instruments according to manufacturer and procedure.

– Keep and maintains records of all laboratory examinations and results.

-Monitor preventive maintenance of the laboratory equipment and apparatus.

– Monitor and maintain the stock level of laboratory supplies and reagents.

– Keep and maintains records of laboratory controls and chart.

– Keep records of laboratory machines calibrations and controls.

– Prepare microbial culture and differential media.

– Supervises the laboratory washer in the disposal of old microbial cultures, stained slides and blood.

– Help maintain cleanliness in the laboratory by disinfection of work station surfaces before and after each performance of laboratory procedures.

– Assess and evaluate the status of specimen received for examination.

– Prepare working reagents necessary for blood examination.

– Monitor daily inventory of stored blood for blood transfusion purposes.

– Must see to it that “confidentiality” of the laboratory records and file are effectively maintained.

– Attend conventions, trainings, seminars and workshops for continuous professional growth.
