Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The R&D Supervisor will be responsible for developing, testing, and launching innovative and high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers and drive business growth. This role requires strong technical expertise in product formulation, processing, a deep understanding of consumer preferences, and the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead and manage product development projects from concept to commercialization, aligned with business goals and market trends. 
  2. Execute the formulation and optimization of the specific product recipes, ensuring they meet quality, taste, and nutritional profile requirements.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance, to successfully execute product development projects.
  4. Coordinate and supervise pilot plant and production trials to ensure successful scale-up and commercialization of new products. 
  5. Monitor and analyze product performance, including sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies, to continuously improve product quality and consistency.
  6. Stay updated with industry advancements in meat processing, packaging, and relevant regulations to drive innovation and maintain compliance.
  7. Manage relationships with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, co-manufacturers, and research institutes, to leverage expertise, resources, and stay ahead of industry trends.
  8. Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams by presenting product innovations, participating in customer meetings, and conducting product training sessions.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 
Experience:   Minimum 5 years of experience in new product development and R&D management in the food industry, preferably with a focus on processed and packaged   food products.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

• Strong knowledge and understanding of the specific processing techniques, formulation, and product quality requirements.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficient in using relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and product development databases.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, with flexibility to travel as needed.
